My Book Has Arrived!

Book 1: Our daughter, Christina, at three years old, at an anti-war rally.

Book 2: Attorney General, Ed Meese, accepting the report of his Commission on Pornography beneath the Goddess of Justice - with one bare breast.

Book 3: Barry speaking outside the Supreme Court on the day of arguments for the case that approved of same-sex marriages nationwide.

Here are the three volumes.

The new trilogy “Paid To Piss People Off” is made up of three volumes, “Peace”, “Porn”, and “Prayer”. The trilogy’s title is based on a remark made by a high school student to me at a party.

My books discuss how a few unexpected encounters with a carnival sideshow, an attractive anarchist, the Attorney General of the United States, a world famous conservative pundit, and a person who didn’t even want to interview me for my first big job - all changed my life.

From teaching sex education in a Catholic girls’ school to working for the ACLU and then running Americans United For Separation of Church and State for a quarter century, my interest has always been in people who feel marginalized. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to tear down some of the dangerous institutions America created and to build up important Constitutional safeguards, meeting folks like President Clinton, Tucker Carlson, Oliver North, and even Lauren Bacall along the way.

The title alone has led Twitter to refuse promotion of the books with their titles. In 1972, comedian George Carlin got into hot water because of “7 Dirty Words”, one of which is, of course, in the title of these volumes.

Wait? He’s a comedian too ?!

Watch rev Barry Lynn rant on the lewis black show.

Following what was literally a “near death experience”, Lewis asked me to do a rant following a show in Washington, DC in 2018. Here it is.

P.S. Here is what Lewis has to say about my book:

“Barry Lynn brilliantly expresses his ideas which he delivers with wit, humor, and panache. If this book is in your hands, you’re lucky. Open it and start reading. You’ll be glad you did.”

The Last House on the Left

This 1972 film was so controversial that projectionists sometimes cut sections before screening it. I was asked to stop by to bless the Theatre and its patrons who might be “triggered” by some of the scenes of sexual violence. I took the invitation seriously and linked the film to the Vietnam War and the difference between filmed violence and real life atrocities.
